House. Late C18, extended in C19 and C20. Red brick in Flemish bond, partly
painted, partly plastered, roofed with handmade red plain tiles. Main range
facing S, with axial stack in left end, and C19 external stack at right end.
Short parallel range to rear right, with internal stack at the junction, and
rear wing beyond with internal end stack. C19 catslide extension to rear left
of rear range, C19 small single-storey lean-to extension behind it, roofed with
slate, and C20 single-storey extension behind it, with flat roof. Single-storey
lean-to extension to right of main range and rear range. C20 garage block at
end of rear range, roofed with slate. 2 storeys and attics. 6-window range of
C18 sashes of 12 lights with shallow segmental arches of gauged brick, and some
crown glass. Similar blank aperture over central door. Fielded 6-panel door,
fanlight with radial tracery, plastered pediment on consoles, projecting false
keystones. 3 stone steps with iron bootscrapers at each side on top step.
Plain band at first-floor level. Plaster moulded eaves cornice. Iron railings
along front, returning to house at left end and at each side of door, comprising
18 cast iron stanchions, 3 iron rails and a chain linking the tops, height
approximately one metre. Main roof and that of rear range hipped at right end
only. The left return is painted, has 2 late C19 sashes with semi-circular
heads in the attic gable, and a rear corner pilaster. One more pilaster at the
rear, which is also painted; others enclosed by catslide extension, which is
plastered. One early C19 sash of 16 lights with crown glass on the first floor
of this extension. One C19 horizontal sash of 12+12 lights in slated lean-to
dormer at rear of main range. The left side of the rear wing has on the first
floor one early C19 sash of 4+8 lights; the ground floor is of red brick, the
first floor plastered. One early C19 sash of 16 lights is re-set in the flat-
roofed extension. At the rear end of the rear wing is a first-floor loading
door. The right returns of the main range and rear ranges are plastered.
