12/47 The Hassocks

House. Mid C17 and 1685. Rendered clay lump and brick with pantiled and lap
tiled roofs. T plan. Stem mid C17. 2 storeys and attic. Probably once lobby
entrance. One 3-light cross mullioned timber casement to left on each floor.
Smaller occasional windows to right. Gabled roof and central ridge stack.
Rear has ordered but scattered casements of various sizes with original glazing.
Entrance now left of centre. One gabled dormer. Extension to north 1919.
Main facade 1685. Brick. 2 storeys. Central door with round headed glazing
under flat lintel. One cross mullioned timber casement left and right and 3
to first floor, all under flat gauged brick lintels. String course of moulded
brick and metoped eaves cornice. Gabled roof with low parapet on kneelers.
Internal gable stacks.
