House. Eastern block late C17, outshut and first western extension probably
early C18, the latter remodelled and kitchen block added early C19; second
western extension mid C19. Stone with dressings; slate roofs. South front
in 3 parts: 2-storey, 2-bay left section of squared tooled stone with tooled-
and-margined quoins and dressings. 6-panel door in 2nd bay, 6-pane sash windows
with slightly-projecting sills; all openings in alternating-block surrounds.
Coped gables, stepped rendered end stacks. Set back to left, single-storey
outbuilding with reverse-stepped gable. Middle slightly lower 2-storey section
of tooled roughly-squared stone. Blocked door in 2nd bay with 12-pane sash
window inserted; similar windows in left bay have tooled and margined lintels;
stone right end stack. Right section 1 1/2 storeys, 3 bays, rubble with roughly-
shaped quoins. Right 16-pane fixed window in former door opening, left 12-pane
Yorkshire sash and tiny 4-pane stair window. 2 slatted windows beneath eaves,
C20 dormer. Right return shows reverse-stepped gable above roof of adjacent barn
(q.v). Rear elevation: added kitchen block shows Yorkshire sashes, outshut to
left has Yorkshire sash and old fixed windows.
Interior: eastern section retains heavy transverse ceiling beams, stair against
former west wall, stud-and-daub partition at lst floor level and old collar-beam
roof trusses. Centre and western sections have C19 fittings including panelled
shutters.
