Water sulphurization building. Late C19 for the Newcastle and Gateshead Water
Co. Rock-faced ashlar with Welsh slate roof. 2-storey front, single-storey
rear, c.25 x 35 feet. Flush alternating quoins and surrounds to doors and
windows. Double door with chamfered reveals, 3-light mullioned overlight and
hoodmould. 3-light mullion-and-transom Tudor-arched window above. Similar
windows on returns and similar doorway to rear. Chamfered offsets at ground
and 1st floor levels. Moulded eaves cornice and pyramidal roof.

C19 machinery inside including working beam engine and large cast-iron capstan.
