Small house: 1848 for the National Co-operative Land Company by F.
O'Connor, later extensions. Flemish bond brickwork on stone
plinth, slate roof; double Roman clay tile to one rear extension.
Three-bay front, 1½ rooms deep on left, 3-window wing at right-
angles on right to rear, of 2 builds. All single storey. Centre
bay projects slightly with gable over: 4 flush panels to front
door, up one stone step; narrow window openings each side: wider
in each wing, all with rendered reveals and flat rubbed brick
arches. Windows boarded over. Plain brick string course to foot
of gable: stone quatrefoil ventilator over; slightly projecting
brick course to verge. Verge rafter on shaped corbels at front.
Double projecting brick course to eaves each side. Brick chimney on
ridge at right gable only. On right part of gable of rear wing
projects. Said to retain original cupboards internally (1976).
Originally with 2-acre plot. Good example of Chartist cottage;
principally listed for historical and sociological interest; forms
group with Oaklands and other Chartist cottages (q.v.).
