Former station-master's house now private dwelling. c.1836 possibly by Benjamin
Green for the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway Co. Tooled dressed sandstone;
Welsh slate roof and dressed stone chimneys. Tudor style. Single storey plus
attic, 3 bays. Central replaced door and flanking sashes in chamfered surrounds
under hoodmoulds. Corbelled-out, gabled half-dormer above doorway. Dormer
has 4-pane sash in chamfered surround; coped gable with shaped footstones and
panelled square block at apex. Steeply-pitched roof with coped gables and
small kneelers. End chimneys corbelled out over returns; each has 3 square-plan
stacks set diagonally. 4-pane sashes in chamfered surrounds on returns. Late
C20 rear addition is not of special interest.
