House. C17, early C19 remodelled C20. Brick, part tilehung, roof plain tiled.
Double pile plan with lower double pile bay added to right and lean-to porch
along left end. 5 window range, 2 storeys and attic. Ground floor rebuilt mid
C20 with lean-to under hipped roof along front, central part open with large
picture windows behind. Above 2 C19 narrow single light upper windows flanking
central bay and either side C20 2-light casements. To left added 2-storey bay,
tilehung to 1st floor. Roof steep pitched with 2 C19 hipped dormers, C20
windows. Symmetrical stacks on return ridge each end, of C19 brickwork, but
C17 brickwork in roof space and queen post roof. Interior partly C.1800 with
full height open well staircase in centre. Large yew hedge runs from left
corner of front, possibly remains of yew walk. House probably on site of
earlier building belonging to the Hamptons and Wollars buried in Stoke Charity
Church.
