GV II
Farmhouse, 1798 dated over door, with right extension of 1820.
Coursed squared herringbone-tooled sandstone with raised V-jointed
quoins. Pantiled roof with stone copings, kneelers and stacks.
2 storeys, 3 bays and 2-bay extension. Main house has central
6-panel door with overlight and C19 sashes flanking and above,
symmetrical. All have quoins matching those at angles, and lintels
carved as false voussoirs. Corniced end chimneys. Right extension,
a rebuilding of earlier downhouse, has 2 later sashes below and
1 above. A double external staircase on right return suggests a
hay or corn loft on first floor originally. Rear elevation shows 2
original windows in left part of main house; others recent replacements,
including long stair window. Interior: 6-panel doors downstairs;
4-panel doors in early C19 panelled partitions upstairs. Staircase
with 2 turned balusters to a tread, shaped tread ends and ramped
handrail. Original heavy back door with long iron hinges. Wall
around small forecourt of similar material to house, with matching
quoins. Central pair of taller gateposts with swept pyramidal tops.
