Moat bridge, gate piers
and gates about 5 yards

GV II
Moat bridge, gate piers and gates. C16, restored mid-C20. Handmade brick
in English bond with sandstone dressings. Bridge is about 12 yards long and
3 yards wide; very small central elliptical arch above which is a sandstone
course and a single-course brick band. Parapet has sandstone coping and
recessed panels pierced with sections of balustrading; west end terminates
in short square piers with pyramidal capping surmounted by urns; south pier
has south return about 2 yards long adjoining bridge pier to similar gate
piers adjacent to house; east end of bridge terminates in tall square gate
piers with pyramidal capping and lion finials; they have a large pair of
late C18 ornate cast iron gates. (BoE, p 200).
