House. C16, C17, and late C18. Brick and stone walls, with a tile roof. Late
medieval timber-framed building, with fireplace, upper floor and wing of the C17,
with recladding of the C18. 2 storeys, the front (east) of 1.3 above 1.1.
windows. The roof is hipped and higher at the west side, and it meets the lower
roof where the shafted stack emerges: the east end has a steep ½-hip. Walls of
Flemish bond, 1st floor band, (cemented) plinth. Casements : one small rectangular
bay at the west side. Gabled brick C19 porch. The south elevation has irregular
fenestration and brick walls of Flemish bond. At the rear, the 2 wings (inner
faces and north face of the north wing) have ironstone walls with brick quoins and
plinth: the north wing has a single-storeyed boarded outshot, the south has a 1st
floor extension (on posts) with tile-hanging. Casements, and plain doorways.
Inside, part of the original walls show heavy framing, with wattle panels finished
in plaster (with red paint). The massive chimney breast faces 2 directions, the
front door being a lobby entrance.
