Farmhouse. c1840. Possibly by Ignatius Bonomi. Dressed coursed sandstone,
ashlar to front; Westmorland slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Chamfered
plinth, chamfered rusticated quoins. Central part-glazed panelled door
below 3-pane overlight in doorcase with Roman Doric half-columns with plain
frieze and cornice. Ground-floor windows: tripartite sash windows with
glazing bars, divided by Doric column shafts with rings, the central light
of 15 panes. First-floor windows: sashes with glazing bars. Hipped roof.
2 ridge stacks. Rear: the windows with ashlar surrounds; central round-
arched landing windows with cornice capitals. Left return: 2 bays, the
front windows blind. Interior: doors of 6 panels in reeded architraves with
roundels at corners; ceilings have margin decoration of banded reeding; mid
C19 cast-iron grates in contemporary marble surrounds; dogleg staircase with
cast-iron balusters.
