Home Farmhouse

Dovecote. 1867, on older foundations. By Norman Shaw. Brick with lime-
stone dressings and tile roof. Circular plan with conical roof. On the
north side is a doorway with moulded stone surround and canted head. Below
the eaves is a 2-light stone mullioned window with a stone surround which
extends above the eaves and has five rows of pigeon holes with ledges.
It is capped by a gable which has flanking pinnacles and is carved with 'B'
(for Beauchamp) and a coronet. At the apex of the roof is an iron finial
and weather vane. Interior: nesting boxes have wooden ledges. Timber
portence remains. (VCH, Vol 4, p 119).
