Farmhouse. Medieval origins, C17 and with C18/C19 additions. Garden front.
Ashlar. Stone slate roof laid to diminishing courses. Stone copings with moulded
kneelers. Stone end and ridge stacks. 3-unit plan plus rear wing forming U-plan.
2 storeys plus attic. 3-window range. Central entrance has 6-panelled door and
overlight. Sidelights and swept canopy hood. Entrance is flanked by tripartite
sashes with wood lintels. First floor has a tripartite and a 20-pane sash in
moulded wood frame with wood lintels. Stone plinth. Rear has 2 medieval
buttresses, and a C19 window with honeycomb glazing under a chamfered stone
head. C17 wing to rear. Squared, coursed ironstone. C20-tile roof. 2 entrances
including a panelled/glazed door in wood frame to right and a C20 porch to left.
C19 outbuilding/washhouse range. Coursed ironstone rubble. C20-tile roof. 2
entrances have plank doors and wood lintels. 3-light casement to first floor and
loft door. Tiny wood lintel. Interior. Boxed beams, pine window shutters,
reveals, window boxes, doors and cupboards. Closed well staircase. C17 panelling
on first floor probably brought from Broughton Castle. Kitchen has a C18
fireplace fronting earlier range. 2 stop-chamfered kitchen beams. C17 panelled
doors and L-hinges. Stone doorway with pointed arched head.
