9/73 Radford Mill and Millhouse

Watermill and millhouse. Mill probably late C18/early C19; house late C17/early
C18. Limestone rubble with wooden lintels, and coursed squared limestone;
Welsh-slate roofs with brick stacks. L plan plus mill range. 2 storeys. 3-window
rubble front of house has a gable to left in what may be the earliest section,
and has irregular 2- and 3-light casements plus 2 doorways, one now a window.
Gabled bay returns as the rear wing and has a stack on the rear gable. Main
range has a stack to right and a lateral stack to rear rising from a rectangular
chimney projection. Mill range extends forward from right of main range, the
roofs stepping up to the coursed-limestone mill section which has segmental
ashlar arches to the openings. Interior: mill retains its iron and wood gear
driving 2 pairs of stones, and an overshot wheel. Interior of house not
inspected.
