House and adjoining cottage, formerly two. C17 with early C19 remodelling.
Timber framed with plastered brick infill; cottage has some plain brick
infill also. House has slate roof with 2 brick ridge chimneys. Many
carpenter's marks. 3-unit plan, 2 storeys, 2-window range, C20 door and
verandah, C19 basements, no ground floor windows. Main entrance on road front.
Refaced in brick and right end wall rebuilt c.1982, but photographs show close
studding with diagonal braces retained behind 4-window front. Interior: Exposed
framing to rear wall, one ceiling beam with broad chamfer. Open fireplace with
with C20 grate but retains old smoking cupboard. Early C19 built-in dresser
cupboard. Cottage: has tiled roof and one ridge stack. 2-unit extended
to double L-plan. One storey and attic, C20 casements throughout.
Exposed framing to end wall. Entrance front faced in early C19 brick with
brick dentil cornice. Projecting early C19 gabled wing, and one dormer.
Interior: Exposed framing and broad chamfered ceiling beam. Bedroom has old
3-plank dour with original latch. Old floor boards.
