Pair of town houses. 1839. Brick with buff headers and stucco
dressings; slate roof with brick end stacks and cross-axial
stack. Double-depth plan. Georgian style. 3 storeys;
symmetrical 6-window range forming 2 double-fronted houses.
Plain eaves soffit. Entrances have Tuscan porches with slender
columns, overlights with margin lights to 3-fielded-panel
doors. Windows have sills, and rusticated wedge lintels with
keys to 12-pane sashes, 6-pane sashes to 2nd floor; ground
floor right end has C19 canted bay window with hipped lead
roof and plate glass horned sashes. Returns have sashed
windows, left return with attached C20 garage. Built as part
of the early C19 development of the north part of Stratford,
known as New Town. The land for these houses was sold by the
trustees of Tyler's Charity c1840.
