Semi-detached houses. c.1845. Developed by C.H.Hill. Yellow
brick, stucco and roof of slate. Two storeys over basement,
each house two bays wide. Basement stuccoed. Steps up to
entrance with architrave, cornice on consoles, panelled door
and overlight. The inner bay of each house stands forward of
the wall by the thickness of one brick. All windows
flat-arched with gauged-brick heads and sashes with margin
lights. Cast-iron window-guards to ground floor window on both
houses. Cornice of angled bricks, enclosed eaves. Party wall
expressed above roof and carrying central stack. Hipped roof,
dormers to both houses. Round-arched first-floor windows to
side of both houses, that to no 55 with radiating glazing
bars.
