Terraced houses. c.1828-30. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond,
stucco, roofs of Welsh and artificial slate so far as visible.
Three and four storeys, two windows each except nos 15 and 34
which have one window each. The terrace forms a symmetrical
group with a centrepiece at nos 23-26, breaking forward, and
endpieces at nos 14-16 and 33-35, also breaking forward; these
endpieces have three pairs of giant pilasters with
entablature, and a pediment to the middle house. Basement and
ground floor stuccoed, the ground floor decorated with banded
rustication. Steps up to round-arched entrance with
three-quarter Greek Doric columns to nos 15-22, and 33,
panelled pilaster jambs to nos 23-32 and pilasters jambs set
in a recessed panel of smooth stucco to no 34; cornice,
fanlight, with decorative glazing to nos 15-22, 26, 28 and 34,
panelled doors. No 35 has a flat-arched entrance with
pilaster-jambs framed by pilasters and entablature.
Ground-floor windows round-arched with radiating glazing bars
and some margin lights. First-floor windows flat-arched to nos
14-22 and 27-35, with stucco architraves and cornices (except
to nos 15 and 34) and iron balconies; those to nos 23-26 are
round-arched with gauged brick heads and iron balconies;
second-floor windows flat-arched with stucco architraves
except those to nos 15 and 34. Pilasters, cornice and pediment
to nos 14 and 16 and 33-35; cornice and dormers in mansard
roof to nos 23-26; parapet to the rest; stacks on party walls.
6/6 sashes commonly throughout the group. Cast-iron railings
to area with ball-and-disc and spear-and-tassel finials and
the occasional overthrow.
