Formerly known as: Nos.127 AND 128 ST OWEN STREET.
Houses, now shops and offices. Early C19. Painted brick;
hipped slate roof; brick end stack. Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellar; 5-window range: central
recessed tripartite window with altered 2/2: 6/6: 2/2 sashes
with architraves and enriched pediment, flanked by 6/6 sashes
under gauged brick flat arches; round-headed tripartite light
under semicircular head of recess, flanked by 66 sashes under
gauged brick arches; brick modillion eaves. Altered, early C20
shop fronts, with moulded fascia-boards and hoods on panelled
pilasters. Firemark.
Right returned side: returned shop front and eaves detail; 6/6
sash with late C19, 2/2 sash over; paired 6/6 sashes;
segmental arches; old glass; C19 part-glazed panelled door
with moulded architrave under segmental arch; C20 shop front.
INTERIOR: No.24 (Barroll House): C19 dogleg staircase with
stick balusters and moulded string and rail. 2nd floor: front:
blocked fireplace; partition and panelled door with clerestory
lights; tripartite sash and Venetian window over. 1st floor:
front: moulded wood arch; ceiling coving; front right: late
C19 tiled fire surround.
Rear wing: two 4-panel doors; early C19 fireplace; vaulted
ceiling. Cellar: masonry steps; 6-panel door to rear. No.26A:
C19 staircase with stick balusters, to attic, from 1st floor.
1st floor: 6-panel doors. Cellar: mainly stone-lined.
