House, now flats. c1810. Ashlar; with hipped slate roof and
ashlar stacks; brick rear wing. L-plan. Classical Revival
style. 2 storeys; 3-bay range, the central bay breaking
forward under pediment. Platt band over ground floor; top
cornice and blocking course. Entrance in bowed porch with
Tuscan aedicule and paired 2-panel doors with panel over;
flanking windows. Windows have 12-pane sashes, one with horns.
2 cross-axial stacks with cornices and gablets. Left return of
3 bays, one blind window. Right return of 7 bays, the central
3 bays forming full height bow with ashlar dome, which has
15-pane sashes, those to 1st floor with iron grilles; signs of
former verandah with swept roof. Rear has varied stacks and
windows with rubbed brick flat arches. 2-storey painted brick
rear wing, now 4 houses, has mid C19 windows, most with C20
top-hung casements.
INTERIOR: entrance hall has panelled pilasters to porch and
early C19, or earlier, stained glass to windows, mostly
armorial; entablature has triglyph frieze with demi-goat
crests to metopes; round-headed inner entrance has fanlight
with decorative glazing bars; cantilever stair has
lattice-work iron balustrade, cornice to stair well with
Vitruvian scroll; some rooms have cornices and fireplaces.
