1907 by C H Hignett for his own occupation. Vernacular form based on the 3-bay
lobby entrance house with semi-open plan. One and a half storeys. North
entrance front of 2 bays, formerly with open "stoep" or entrance porch (now
filled in). Main south front of 3 bays with wide, buttressed, projecting central
bay half hipped thatch roof of Norfolk reed with tiled peak to ridge. Brick
stacks. Roughcast brick with exposed plinth. Eyebrow dormer casements at
eaves. Mullioned, leaded casement windows of 2-5 lights with tile labels.
Front door with stained glass fish design. Former garden room now filled in.
Interesting interior with good joinery and wrought ironwork. Living-room ingle
with tripart arched fireplace with chequered surround. (M K Miller: Country Life
