Small country house. Circa 1700-10. Dark red brick with lighter
red brick dressings. Plain tile hipped roof. 3 storeys over
cellar. 5-window E elevation. 3-window N elevation, formerly
the entrance front, but door now blocked. Floor bands. Deep
wooden eaves cornice. On N side the cornice has mouldings below
eaves and door has a richly carved scrolls and figured keystone,
and segmental pedimented hood. 8 fielded panels. 1st and 2nd
floor windows above door with key blocks. Gauged brick lintels
to all sides. W elevation has similar central door, but with
simpler scrolls and hood. Later glazed fan. All attic windows
are original 2-light mullioned casements. Others are C19 sashes
or cross-bar casements, but on left ground floor on W side are 2
oak cross-bar casements with leaded lights. 1st and 2nd floor
central W windows with scalloped lintels. Interior has staircase
hall at right angles to N entrance. Barleytwist balustrading;
leaf scrolls to treads. 1st floor landing has good moulded arch
to N side rooms, these with original panelling. Ground floor
rooms with fielded and bolection moulded panelling. Another
principal room in SW angle. Service stair adjacent with good
moulded balusters up to attic. Large inglenook in kitchen.
