Farmhouse, now house. Probably early to mid-C17. Timber frame with
painted brick infill (partly rendered) on high painted brick plinth and
with painted brick stair tower. Slate roof. Framing: square panels
(3 from sole plate to wall plate) with long straight tension braces.
Probably 3 framed bays, 2 storeys and gable-lit attic. Brick stack off
ridge to south-west and brick end stack to north-west. Mainly C19 two-
and 3-light wooden casements. Full-height gabled stair tower to north-
east with later hipped-roofed porch in angle. Further additions to north-
west. Interior not inspected. Upper Woodcote was the home of the Hosier
family in the C16 and of the Jones family from the beginning of the C17 to
the end of the C18. H.E. Forrest, Some Old Shropshire Houses and their
