Cottage, formerly two cottages. C16. Local stone cut and squared, random
coursed; thatched roof to main portion, hipped on angle, Westward
extension having double Roman clay tiles with coped gable; rebuilt brick
chimney stacks. "L"-plan; single-storey with attics; 4-bay East
elevation. C20 early entrance door in bay 3; to bay-1 a 3-light hollow
chamfered mullioned window with leaded lights and no label, to bay-2 a
4-light mullioned window with elliptical arched lights and label over,
to bay-4 a 3-light hollow chamfered mullioned window, rather distorted;
cutting into thatch two 3-light attic casement windows. Internally
jointed cruck collared trusses with purlins, no windbraces visible, said
to have been dated circa 1520. Several C17 doors and doorways; both
stairs seem to be in original positions and both have small square eaves
windows; main beams have chamfers with stepped stops. A picturesque and
interesting survival.
