GV II

Public house. C18, partly rebuilt 1822. Coursed squared ironstone, slate roofs,
brick end stacks, that to right on stone base. L-plan. Older portion has 2
storeys and attic, that of 1822 has 3 storeys; 4-window range. 6-panel door to
right of central straight joint with overlight and timber lintel. Right half of
1822 has 3-light casement windows to ground, first and attic floors, except for
canted bay window to ground floor right, all with timber lintels. 2-light
chamfered stone mullion cellar window to right of door. Quoins, chamfered stone
eaves, and stone-coped gable. Datestone in right gable inscribed 1822. Left half
has canted stone bay window to left of door and 3-light casements to ground and
first floor, all with timber lintels. Chamfered stone eaves and stone-coped
gable with kneelers. Wing to rear left has similar windows and stone-coped gable
with kneelers. Interior has ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams and large open
fireplace with stop-chamfered bressumer. Stone cellar.
