Lodge. c.1800 extended mid C19. Limestone ashlar, pyramidal slate roof, stone
lateral stacks. 2-unit plan. 2-storey, 3-window range. Main front faces drive
and has central panelled door in shallow porch with slender Tuscan columns and
entablature. 2-light casement windows to ground floor left and right with
segmental-arched head. Pointed arch-shaped windows to 1st floor with 2-light
casement windows. Plinth, pilaster strips to angles and defining bays, sill
bands and overhanging bracketed eaves. Large mid C19 Italianate-style extension
to rear. Also known as the Gardener's Cottage. Attached railing extends from
left corner of lodge to gate and gatepiers, with similar railing to other side
of gate. Wrought-iron railings with ornamented cresting and standards or low
stone-coped walls. Plain limestone ashlar gatepiers with moulded cornice and
ball finials; modern 5-bar timber gate. Interior: contains a fine mid C18
fireplace almost certainly from Easton Maudit House.
