This mill was built as a cotton mill in 1791 on the site of a much older paper mill that ceased production in 1770. The weir was built to hold and direct water to drive the huge mill wheel.
In 1811 the mill was converted to spin flax, it continued manufacturing textiles until its closure in 1972.
The building lay empty for many years before being converted into luxury apartments.
