House. c1800 and C20. Timber-framed and plastered, peg-tiled
with end stacks. Plan comprises rectangular block of house
with rear outshut. Also, C20 rear wing and adjoining porch,
not of special interest and not a part of this listing. Total
plan now L-shaped.
2 storey. Front elevation, 3 window range; all windows have
plain frames and C20 renewed sashes with horns and glazing
bars, 3x4 panes. Central C20 peg-tiled gabled porch, with 4
panelled door; panels flush and bead moulded. Porch sides each
have a 4x4 paned C20 casement window. W stack original, E
stack rendered except top that is rebuilt. E end elevation;
house and outshut with stack external and first floor C20
2-light casement window to rear. W elevation similar, but with
stack internal and ground floor C20 2-light casement window.
Rear elevation: considerably masked by C20 addition to W end.
E end, outshut has C20 triple casement window, wooden, with
segment arched heads. C20 central dormer has similar window
and leaded gable.
INTERIOR: central passage and landing with rear stair -
rebuilt in C20. Partitioning to rooms each side and outer wall
framing of elm, slender studs with rudimentary primary
bracing. First-floor joists of similar material - also
softwood. Ground-floor fireplace at W end projects into room -
rebuilt in C20 but original brickwork with wide lime mortar
joints exposed in first-floor room above.
