House. Mid C17 rebuilding of an earlier building, with C20
alterations and additions. Coursed Coal Measures Sandstone
with ashlar gritstone dressings, quoins, single rear gable
coped, and 2 rendered brick gable stacks. Welsh slate and
stone slated roof coverings, the latter with a rare survival
of a stone slated valley. T-plan house, with end-lobby
entrance. South elevation. 2 storey, 2 bays, with doorway to
west end, with chamfered quoined surround supporting massive
chamfered lintel, beneath a hood mould. To the east, two C20
four-light casements to each floor, formerly chamfer-mullioned
openings, the mullions removed during C20 alteration.
Projecting stair turret to rear with single-light C17 windows
with chamfered reveals, some retaining iron saddle bars. East
side elevation also with single lights. C20 joinery throughout
remaining building elevations.
INTERIOR much altered, including addition of false spine beam
and joists to ground floor west room, but centre partition
formed around a cruck truss. Stone spiral staircase leads to
first floor. Roof retains much original carpentry.
