Description

LANCASTER

SD4761NE BRYER STREET
1685-1/7/24 (West side)
No.2

II

Pair of cottages, now a house. Early C19. Coursed and squared
sandstone with plain quoins. Slate roof. Double-depth plan
with linked doorways in the centre and gable chimney stacks. 3
storeys, of which the top floor is little more than an attic,
above a cellar, and only 3 bays with the central one above the
doorways. All the openings have painted plain stone surrounds.
The door, in the right-hand opening, is panelled. The
left-hand door opening is now blocked and contains a window.
Only the first-floor windows have glazing bar sashes, 4 panes
wide and 3 tall. The ground-floor windows have Victorian
4-pane sashes, while on the second floor the low central
window is blind, but painted to represent 6 panes. The other
windows are top-hung casements.
