Terraced town houses. c.1850-55, probably by Sir James Pennethorne.
Stucco, slate roofs. Italianate details, more elaborated than on Nos. 4
to 6. 4 tall storeys, basements and dormered mansards. Each front 3
windows wide, the row arranged symmetrically in rhythm a, b, a with
pedimented attic storey to No. 8. Large Doric portico-porches, those of
Nos. 7 and 8 paired, that of No. 9 to right. Recessed plate glass sashes,
those on 1st floor archivolt arched. Banded rustication to ground floor.
Pilaster strips to upper storeys. Dentil cornice at 1st floor level.
Plat band with swags to 2nd floor and guilloche band at 3rd floor level.
Dentil crowning cornice and blocking course. Pedimented attic over No. 8.
Nos. 7 and 9 retain dies of former balustrade. Cast iron area railings.
