Bird i'th' Hand Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Later C17, enlarged in C19. Coursed sandstone
rubble, stone slate roof. Two-unit left-hand baffle entry plan
(altered internally) with added rear wing. Two low storeys, 2
windows. The ground floor has a doorway to the left with a
thin rectangular lintel, and two 3-light casement windows with
raised sills and simple hoodmoulds; the 1st floor has 2-light
casement windows. Gable chimneys. Blocked attic window in
right-hand gable. One-bay kitchen wing added to rear, with
doorway close to junction and casement windows to the left.
INTERIOR: C17 two-unit plan, but former partition removed;
former inglenook bressummer, but heck removed; quarter-round
moulded lateral beam; cross-corner fireplace in former
parlour.
