Giant's Hall

Farmhouse, now 2 dwellings. Late C18 or very early C19;
altered. Coursed squared sandstone (rear and right-hand end of
pebble-dashed brick), hipped slate roof. Rectangular
double-depth plan. Two storeys and 3 windows, a symmetrical
but disproportionately long facade, with rusticated quoins and
moulded gutter cornice. The ground floor has glazed and
panelled double doors, now protected by a C20 gabled porch.
Both floors have 16-pane sashed windows with wedge lintels
which have raised pseudo voussoirs and keystones. The 2-window
left return wall has similar fenestration; the right-hand
return wall has an inserted doorway. The rear wall has (inter
alia) a full-height semi-elliptical blank arch in the centre
(as if for a former waggon entrance) containing an ex situ
datestone lettered:

brackets and stick balusters.
