Terraced town houses. c.1780-90, Portland Estate development. Stock
brick with channelled stucco ground floors; concealed slate roofs. 4
storeys and basements. 3-window wide fronts except for No. 45 of 5
windows, 2 of them over mews entrance. Semicircular arched doorways to
right in Nos. 45 to 47 and the reverse to Nos. 43 and 44; panelled doors
and fanlights, Nos. 43, 46 and 47 with Doric pilastered jambs; No. 44
wider with side lights and leaded fanlight, the opening dressed with Coade
stone vermiculated blocks, voussoirs and mask keystone. Recessed sashes,
glazing bars intact except for No. 43, under flat gauged arches to upper
floors. Stuccowork finished off with plat band at 1st floor level.
Parapet with coping. Nos. 43, 44 and 46 have continuous cast iron Gothick
and palmette patterned 1st floor balconies. Nos. 45 and 47 have plain
balconettes. Cast iron area railings with tasselled spike finials to
Nos. 43, 44, 46 and 47.
