House, now divided. Originally late C15/early C16, Wealden type
of hall-house with cross wing on N. Partly rebuilt mid-late C17
when open hall was replaced by 2 storey block. Exposed timber
framing and plaster. Old tile half-hipped roof with wide, red
brick stack near centre. N end has curved braces on 1st floor,
which was originally jettied. C17 door surround towards N. 3
Ground and 1st floor 3-light casements, those of 1st floor
probably late C17/early C18. Larger, C19, Ground floor
casements. N elevation has curved 1st floor braces and filled in,
C17 window on E Ground floor. Modern Ground floor rear
extension. Interior has painted text of Proverbs Ch 31 v 30 on
chimney breast of S Ground floor room, lettering dateable 2nd
quarter C17. Later 2 storey addition on S (4 Vine Cottages).
Probably C17 timber frame. Ground floor weatherboarded, 1st
floor plastered. Old tile roof. 2 windows of Ground and 1st
floor, 3-light casements, all except N Ground floor with C17 or
early C18 wooden frames. Modern rear extension. (RCHM
