Two Cottages, now one. C17 with mid C20 addition at rear.

MATERIALS: Timber framed with white painted brick nogging, and some rendered infill panels.

EXTERIOR: One-and-a-half storeys. Half hipped thatched roof with end stack to south and ridge stack off-centre to north. 3 eye brow eaves dormers to east in centre with 3-light diamond leaded casement and those at ends with 2-light diamond leaded casements. 3 framed bays. East front: 2 ground floor 3-light leaded casements, one to left and one in centre flanking small C20 leaded casement. Boarded door between first and second windows from left and boarded door to right with thatched timber porch. C20 white painted one storey lean-to to left with casement.

INTERIOR: Not inspected.

REASONS FOR DESIGNATION: Hawksbill Cottage is listed at Grade II for the following principal reasons:
* A substantial C17 cottage with exposed timber frame and traditional thatch roof;
* Group value with late-C18 cottages to the north-west on Pangbourne Road.
