House. C16. Long, one and a half storeys, thatched with half-
hipped ends, facing N. Timber frame with tension bracing,
plastered externally but largely exposed inside. At rear, thatch
runs down over shallow lean-to at E half of house. 3-unit plan
hall-house with upper end to E. Large red brick chimney at upper
end of hall with winding stair on front wall next to it. Former
gable chimney at W now enclosed by one and a half storeys
extension in line, with modern kitchen lean-to on W end. C17
extension at same height on E end, one step higher. Inserted
floor over hall has C18 square joists and unchamfered axial beam,
but floors at each end probably older. Clasped purlin roof
structure. N front has 3 dormers, 2 set on wall plate, but 1
over lower end of original house is higher. Modern low porch
with tiled roof.
