Methodist Chapel. Early Cl9; later refronted and extended to rear. Dressed
sandstone, with chamfered sandstone ashlar quoins to front, on chamfered
sandstone ashlar plinth; squared limestone returns with tooled flush quoins
to rear. Plain slate roof with shaped slates inset. Single-storey, 2-bay
front. Round-arched doorcase with rusticated archivolt on ashlar jambs;
with keystone containing carved figure in high relief. Panelled door with
radial fanlight. Above this is a segmental recess in surround of long and
short chamfered blocks containing a clock with the inscription "Wesleyan
Methodist Church" above it. Flanking full-height windows are round-arched
sashes, with Gothick glazing to the heads, in architraves with vermiculate
imposts and keystone. Stone sills on nailhead brackets. Plain impost band
and cavetto-moulded eaves cornice. Hipped roof. Rear: original round-
arched sash window with glazing bars and Gothick head in tooled keyed
surround with stone sill.
