3/79 Lane Top Farmhouse
G.V. II
House. Possibly dating from 1672 (date inscribed on C19 porch to front) but
probably rebuilt early C18. Large dressed stone, partly watershot, stone slate
roof. 2 storeys. Quoins, coped gables with kneelers and ball finials to apex.
3-room plan, with baffle entry. 3 bays, though quoins at junction of 1st and
2nd bays may indicate that it was only of 2 bays originally. Doorway has square
lintel and chamfered surround protected by later single storey large gabled
porch acting as a sun room. To right of porch are 2 windows with chamfered
jambs but square lintels and sills with 2 other smaller windows over. All have
modern glazing. To left of porch one chamfered mullioned window of 2 lights
survives, though lacking its mullion and now blocked. 2 stacks to ridge that
opposite entry is well dressed and contemporary; the other is of C19 character.
Right hand return wall retains 2 chamfered mullions of 2 lights, one to each
floor.
