Almshouse pair. Circa 1912 by Frank Atkinson. Red brick with plain tiled roof
and tall central ridge stack. Single storey. 4 bays with large casements in
centre two bays and 2 wide, shallow arched headed entrances in outer two. Gauged
heads to openings and ashlar keystones over entrances.
Whiteley Village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores for thrifty
old folk, laid out on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson , employing leading
architects of the day.
