Circa 1790. One of the 2 known works of the Sussex Architect, Benjamin
Henry Latrobe, who emigrated to America in 1795. Square mansion of 3 storeys
and 3 windows on each front. Ashlar. Semi-circular portico, now glazed,
of 3 Ionic columns and 2 pilasters with an iron railing over. French window
in arcading on ground floor on each side of the portico. Venetian shutters
on ground and first floors. Cornice above first floor. The top floor
is built in 3 sections, the outer ones flush with the lower portion of
the house and joined by a parapet. The centre section behind this recessed
and slate hung. One window in each section. Slate roof. Large modern
additions to north.
