Manor house. Probably late C17, but may be partly earlier. Coursed limestone
rubble with ashlar and brick dressings; old plain-tile roof with brick stacks.
L-plan. 2 storeys plus attics. Original entrance front, with stepped brick
plinth and ashlar quoins, has central segmental-arched doorway and, to left,
2-light casements at ground and first floor, both with heavy frames in brick
dressings; above the door is a small window with chamfered stone surround; blind
right bay has remains of plaster sundial. Roof is hipped to right and has one
hipped dormer to left of centre. Left gable wall has brick-quoined chimney
projection with tumbled off-sets. Roof projects at rear by more than a metre.
Right gable wall returns to rear range, containing present main entrance and
further heavy-framed casements in first 2 bays; rear 2 bays are mostly C20 but
wall extends beyond, with remains of 2 more windows, to link with churchyard
wall and now forms part of a C20 outbuilding. Interior: moulded and chamfered
beans. Roofs have 2 rows of windbraces, clasped upper purlins and butt lower
purlins. One truss has slightly curved principals. Attached wall running
eastwards is in coursed rubble with a stepped brick plinth and dentil course
below a tiled coping. A doorway has a plain ashlar architrave. The wall running
west is higher and has a brick lining. It continues in brick.
