5/61 Pair of concrete silos
at Wilsic Lodge Farm.
II
Pair of silos. 1920'S. Reinforced concrete. Pair of freestanding
cylindrical silos with integral ladder turrets; northern silo has embattled
parapet. Rare and early example of the use of concrete in C20 farmbuilding
development. Such buildings pioneered the production of silage that was to
become a major element in farm economy from the 1940's. Shown on O.S. maps
as pre-dating 1930.
