to the west of Hyam Farmhouse
GV II
Barn, cowbyres and stable. Mid C18. Coursed rubble and stone
dressings with double Roman tile roof to barn and stone slate roofs
to attached ranges. L-shaped plan with barn at south-west corner
and long cowbyre and stable range facing north. Five-bay barn of
cruciform plan with north and south midstreys with weatherboarding
to gables and 2-leaf plank doors. Barn roof is half-hipped at
ends. Lean-to shed to south west corner, attached workshop range
with pantile roof to east end. Long cowbyre range with lean-to
roof supported on circular stone piers; some brick infilling to
left end bays. Stone sets to cowbyre floor. Small 2-storey stable
with plank door to north end of cowbyre range covered in creeper at
time of resurvey (August 1986). Interior. Barn has an original
butt-purlin, collar and tie-beam roof structure.
