Farmhouse. C16, the section to right of stack rebuilt, perhaps in late C17.
Timber framed and rendered, roof of concrete pantiles. 3 cells. 2 storeys
and attic. Mid C20 casement windows without glazing bars. Internal stack
with rendered shaft. Lean-to kitchen addition of c.1975 on left gable end.
Mid C20 doorway at rear. Interior. 2-bay cell to left has largely intact
frame with evidence for diamond-mullioned windows. Cranked braces to central
tie beam. Ceiling of ground floor room has bridging beam with wide chamfer
and closely-set chamfered joists. Probable cross-entry to left. On upper
floor, 2 C17 panelled doors with old ironwork and sections of reeded pilasters
re-used as door jambs. Intact roof with one row of wind-braced clasped
purlins. Later end more heavily modernised, much of the structure concealed.
Ceiling of main lower room has pitchpine beam and various re-used joists, set
on-edge and flat. Blocked fireplace with wide lintol. Clasped purlin roof,
the rafters of regular scantling.
