TL 96 NE STOWLANGTOFT THE STREET

GV II

House, built c.1830 as a Reading Room. Flushed flint rubble with quoins and
dressings of gault brick. Plaintiled roof to main section, flat roofs on
either side behind embattled parapets: a pair of prominent bargeboards with
ogee-curved pierced soffits bearing a Tudor flower at each cusp and a turned
drop finial at the apex. A chimney of gault brick with 3 octagonal flues. 2
storey gable-front centre section with large single-storey splayed bays on
either side. A large 3-light window with an arch within the head of each
light: deeply-chamfered reveals and a moulded square hoodmould. In the bays
are similar smaller windows, but with 4-centred heads and no hoodmould.
Leaded lights. In the right hand bay is an entrance door with 6 equal sunk
panels having arcading within the head.
