2/132 Churchyard Wall, about
- 25m south of the Church
of St George
GV II
Churchyard wall, mainly C18 but with probably earlier core. Flint rubble with
inclusions of red brick and limestone rubble. Gabled limestone copings, some
probably medieval. About lm high, extending for about 90m and bounding the
south side of the churchyard. Pierced for wrought iron gates opposite the
south church doorway. A section 10m long at the east end is on a different
alignment and was probably rebuilt c.1855 following restoration of the church.
Embedded in the flint rubble walling here are fragments of limestone tracery
evidently taken from the medieval windows at that time.
