Farmhouse. Mid C16, considerably altered in C18; the right hand wing and the
Gothick-style facade are early C19. Timber framed and plastered, with small
traces of the old plaster panels with ropework infilling; plaintiled roof. 2
storeys. A main range with 2 hipped-roofed wings set forward. One window to
the left hand (dairy) end of main range, one window to wings, 2 windows to
recessed centre: 3-light mullion and transom casements with pointed arches to
the lights and timber hoodmoulds; central doorway with 6-panel raised and
fielded door, blind rectangular fanlight with 3 blank arches and hoodmould
over. The right hand return front has 3 windows in similar style and a
doorway with glazed 6-panel door and fanlight with 2 pointed-arch lights. 2
mid C16 windows with moulded mullions have been exposed at the rear. Heavy
internal stack to main range and 2 other internal stacks. The left hand end
of the main range has good exposed framing: the former dairy has a roll-
moulded main beam and cornice, 2 arched doorways and an early C19 hinged
boarded shutter to the slatted front window; there are moulded beams over both
ground floor fireplaces at this end of the house.
