Farmhouse, marked on the O.S. map as 'Birchams Farm'. Early C17. 2 storeys
and attics; 3-cell lobby entrance form. Timber-framed, plastered, clay
pantiles. An internal chimney stack with a plain rebuilt shaft of old red
brick. At the base of the shaft is a small empty recessed panel with moulded
surround. 3 old cross windows to the ground floor, and 2, with one plain 2-
light casement window, to the upper floor; 2 gabled dormers with plain 2-light
casement windows. Above the entrance is an original 3-light diamond-mullioned
window, and on the upper floor of the rear are 2 more mullioned windows, one
3-light with ovolo moulding, the other 4-light with the outer moulding hacked
off. An early C19 gabled porch, rendered and pantiled, with an arched opening.
The entrance doorway inside has a pointed Gothic arch, and a door with 2
matching half-glazed leaves with Gothic tracery. Main beans visible inside;
newel stair by the stack. At the north end, a C19 single-storey lean-to in
red brick with pantiled roof projects forward beyond the line of the main
front. It is unoccupied and becoming derelict.
