3/19 The Old Rectory
II
Former Rectory, now house. Circa 1830. Rubble with ochre-washed
render, stone dressings and hipped slate roof with 2 brick stacks
on stone bases. T-shaped plan with service wing and later addition
to the north. West front of 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays. Windows
are 12-pane sashes; 2 dormers with 9-pane sashes. Stone plinth
course, first floor platband and deeply projecting, bracketed eaves
cornice. Central round-headed doorway with impost blocks and
keystone; 6-panel door set in deep reveal with spoked fanlight.
South front has 2 later canted bays to ground floor.
Interior. Staircase with turned newel post, square balusters and
mahogany handrail. Stone flags to central corridor. Built during
the incumbency of the Rev. W.S. Birch.
